Pummelo

(Citrus grandis)

Rutaceae family

Pummelo is a highly-variable, sexually-propagated citrus species native to Southeast Asia. Pummelos range from sweet to bitter, and may be as large as a soccer ball. They are adapted to the tropics. The pummelo's claim to fame is that it is one of the two progenitor species, along with the orange, of the grapefruit.
