(Cichorium endivia)
Asteraceae family
Endive, a leafy vegetable similar to lettuce, is a cool-season biennial that is usually cultivated as an annual. Endive is not nearly as popular in the US as it is in other parts of the world. It is often used as a salad garnish. Endive is somewhat hardier than lettuce in its tolerance for cool temperatures. It is native to South Asia.
